Clik here to view.Writing brings me such joy! Encouraging others is part of the unique way God created me. It is amazing to me that God has gifted me with a way to do both and for that I am truly grateful.
How can it be that five short years ago I was reading articles and books by well known authors and now I am writing for moms and interviewing those same authors for the FamilyLife MomLife Today blog?
God has a way of surprising us doesn’t He? Only God could have set into motion a series of circumstances that allowed such an unbelievable thing to occur. I have found that interviewing these amazing women is definitely something that speaks to my heart. To be able to empower and encourage women who are being used by God to pour into the lives of other women is an outstanding blessing!
Interestingly with such opportunities comes the continuing challenge of keeping the main thing, the main thing…I must continue to place my role as mom in the forefront of my opportunity decision-making. Recently that meant saying no to a conference I really wanted (and needed) to be a part of. That meant sending someone else to an event I had planned to attend because, as it turned out, my child needed me home that weekend for a special event of her own.
When I was blessed with motherhood I made the commitment to place the needs of my family before my own. Just because the weekend opportunities with friends now involve the names of those who author books and speak to large numbers of women does not mean that my commitment can now be forgotten.
I share this with you not to pat me on the back, but to illustrate that when God calls a mom to put her family first, it really is a commitment that a woman can keep if she continues to hear His voice above the whispers (and shouts) of the world around her.
So tell me mom…how has God blessed you by allowing you to use your gifts and talents for His glory? What opportunities are you being lured towards that you are tempted to place above your family?
Be encouraged that with God’s help you can pour into your family and use your gifts and talents…but use caution and do not let the world cause you to alter your commitment!
Remember…every MOMent counts,
